We are looking for an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you will support students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other related conditions.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' learning, well-being, and personal development within a safe and nurturing environment. You'll work closely with the class teacher to design and deliver tailored learning activities, fostering independence, positive behaviour, and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and evaluating learning activities.
- Provide feedback on student progress and achievement.
- Monitor and report on student development, ensuring alignment with school policies.
- Support positive behaviour management, adapting to each student's needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and behavioural development in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport on a rota basis).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection.
- Ability to adapt creatively and positively to meet individual student needs.
