We are seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you'll support students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting the learning, development, and well-being of our students in a nurturing and safe environment. You'll collaborate with the class teacher to deliver personalised learning activities, fostering independence, positive behaviour, and social and emotional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and evaluating learning activities.
- Provide feedback on student progress and attainment.
- Monitor and report on student development, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Support positive behaviour management, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and behavioural development in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport on a rota basis).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 or higher qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Creative and positive approach to adapting to individual student needs.
