We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you will support students aged 10-19 with complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and other related conditions, helping them thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. Working alongside the class teacher, you will help deliver tailored learning activities that promote independence, positive behaviour, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivering lessons and learning activities.
- Provide ongoing feedback on students' progress and achievements.
- Monitor and report on individual student progress, ensuring compliance with school policies.
- Support behaviour management, adapting approaches to meet each student's needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and personal development in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required for student transport).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Flexible, creative, and able to provide tailored support to meet individual student needs.
