We are seeking passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our team in Wakefield. In this role, you'll provide crucial support to young people aged 11-19 with complex needs such as autism, learning disabilities, and communication challenges.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be key in helping students succeed academically, socially, and personally. Working in a nurturing environment, you'll ensure students have the tools they need to thrive. Responsibilities include assisting with care needs, managing behaviour, and offering personalised support tailored to each student's sensory and communication requirements.
You'll also foster positive, trusting relationships with students, helping create a safe and engaging learning atmosphere. Working alongside a team of professionals, you'll promote personal growth, independence, and positive behaviour. Flexibility is important, as your role will adapt to meet the needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and evaluating learning activities.
- Provide regular feedback on student progress and personal development.
- Manage behaviour in a positive way, adjusting approaches to suit individual needs.
- Collaborate with other professionals to ensure students receive comprehensive support.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with SEN students (paid or voluntary).
- Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (preferred).
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Ability to adapt and personalise learning plans for individual needs.
- Positive and creative approach to supporting student growth.
