Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a vibrant school in Hemel Hempstead. Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledgeable and passionate about SEND and how children develop and learn
- An excellent communicator with great teamwork skills
- Organised and efficient
- Positive and able to inspire and motivate others
- Able to deal with challenges in a sensitive, positive, emotionally responsive manner supporting the difficulties and needs of individuals
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement effective support strategies
- Identify and assess students' needs, and develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Monitor and review the progress of students with SEN, ensuring that interventions are effective and outcomes are achieved
- Provide training and support for staff to ensure they are equipped to meet the needs of SEN students
- Ensure compliance with statutory SEN regulations and maintain up-to-date records
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in a SENCO role or significant experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting all students to achieve their best.
- Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get one
- Experience working with children or young people with additional care needs
- 2 recent professional references
- Experience with challenging behaviours
- A calm & caring personality
