We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work full-time in a specialist school setting, supporting children and young people with ASD needs. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with a competitive daily pay rate of £90-£115. The role is based in the area of Leeds.
This school's primary site is situated in a welcoming community, offering a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to grow both academically and socially. The school is dedicated to providing high-quality education and fostering a positive atmosphere for all pupils. With strong support from staff, it focuses on individualised learning and inclusive practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to children with ASD, helping them engage with learning activities and develop essential skills.
- Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavioural support strategies.
- Promote an inclusive and positive classroom environment where children can thrive.
- Support the teacher in planning and delivering lessons tailored to the individual needs of the students.
- Encourage independence and confidence in students, helping them build social and communication skills.
- Assist with classroom management and support students during break times and other activities.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and other professionals.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, would be beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting children's learning and development.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one).
- Eligible to work in the UK without restrictions.
