Are you an experienced Senior Design Manager looking to take the lead on high-profile education projects? A leading Tier 1 main contractor with a strong presence in Kent is seeking a skilled professional to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on major projects in the education sector, shaping the future of learning environments.
As a Senior Design Manager, you will oversee the design aspects of tenders and projects, ensuring seamless coordination from conception to delivery. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing design processes across all project stages, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
Establishing and maintaining an effective design resource and team profile at bid and delivery stages.
Managing and coordinating the overall design process through RIBA design stages, challenging briefs, and driving innovation.
Ensuring adherence to design briefs and developing comprehensive scopes of service.
Overseeing design strategy and ensuring a fully coordinated design approach.
Conducting design reviews and coordination meetings to maintain alignment with commercial and construction requirements.
Ensuring designs are developed within budget and in line with cost plan allowances.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Extensive experience in the main contracting sector, particularly within education projects.
Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
Experience working on Department for Education (DfE) projects.
A solid understanding of BIM methodologies (advantageous).
A HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Design Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Membership of CIOB or other relevant professional body (desirable).
Experience managing both single-stage and two-stage tenders.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Competitive salary of £80,000 - £90,000.
