Position Senior Design Manager

Salary £65,000 - £75,000 + package

About the Role:
This crucial role involves managing the complete design process for Stage 1 and 2 tenders (from RIBA Stage 2/3) and throughout the on-site construction phase (RIBA Stages 4 & 5).
You will lead the design team, manage budgets, and ensure designs are compliant, coordinated, and buildable.
Responsibilities include pre-contract tasks (design strategy, team selection, fee negotiations, programme creation, CDE establishment, DMP/BEP development) and post-contract duties (design team management, change control, risk assessments, design review and approval, and documentation).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design process for tenders and projects, ensuring alignment with company standards and client requirements.
- Manage and coordinate the work of multiple design teams, including specialist subcontractors.
- Develop innovative, cost-effective, and buildable design solutions.
- Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) and all design documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including planning, building control, and health & safety.
- Drive best practice and continuously improve design processes.
- Develop strong client relationships.
Ideal Candidate:
- Extensive experience in a senior Design Management role within the construction industry.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and large design teams.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of RIBA stages, BIM, and relevant design software.
- Thorough knowledge of building regulations, health & safety, and sustainability standards.
