An exciting opportunity has emerged for an experienced Senior Practitioner to join Edinburgh City Council's children's services. This role is central to managing the safety and wellbeing of children across the city and provides a chance to make a profound impact on the lives of children and families.
We are seeking a dedicated professional with a deep commitment to achieving the best outcomes for protected children and who is ready to make a positive difference.
This contract is for a minimum of 6 months and offers a competitive hourly rate.
Your responsibilities will be, but are not limited to:
- Managing Inter-Agency Referral Discussions (IRDs) for unallocated children across Edinburgh.
- Conducting initial assessments related to children involved in IRDs, including risk and needs assessments, and determining the need for long-term social work involvement or support from other agencies.
- Preparing detailed written assessment reports and maintaining up-to-date chronologies.
- Organising and leading Child Protection Planning Meetings (CPPM), completing associated child protection visits, safety planning, and report writing.
- Engaging with families to discuss high-risk situations and collaborating to create safe, effective care plans.
- Considering alternative care measures when needed, such as section 25 or Child Protection Orders (CPO).
Requirements:
- Member of the PVG scheme
- Degree in Social Work or equivalent
- Member of the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- Substantial experience managing child protection cases within a statutory children and families team
