Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP)
About the Role:
One of our clients is looking for an experienced MEP Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team and lead the commercial aspects of key commercial construction projects within the Central Belt of Scotland. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Mechanical and Electrical (MEP) quantity surveying function, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the commercial aspects of major construction projects in the Central Belt of Scotland, ensuring cost-effective delivery of MEP works within agreed budgets and contractually agreed terms.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for MEP works on projects.
- Manage the procurement process for MEP sub-contractors, including tendering, contract negotiations, and subcontractor management.
- Provide expert guidance and support to project teams on all commercial matters related to MEP works, ensuring compliance with relevant contracts, including JCT and NEC forms.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and cost implications specific to MEP works on projects.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice procedures for commercial management of MEP works within the company.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, MEP subcontractors, and suppliers, building a strong reputation for commercial expertise in the MEP field.
- Supervise and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors within the MEP team, providing guidance and professional development.
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record as an MEP Senior Quantity Surveyor or similar role within a main contractor, or subconstractor
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with both JCT and NEC contracts, with a proven ability to manage the commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of the MEP industry, including technical knowledge of MEP systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to make sound commercial judgments in the context of MEP works.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software packages, including cost management systems, BIM software, and MEP specific software.
