Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

My client is a growing T1 contractor who work on some of the UKs largest infrastructure projects and clients.
They are currently looking for a talented and motivated individual to join a dynamic team working on an exciting civil engineering project based in North London and offer great support with professional development and further qualifications.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take a leadership role in the management of a project's commercial aspects, ensuring that accurate, timely, and contract-compliant documentation is issued. You will work closely with the project management and engineering teams while liaising with the client and employer's commercial teams to deliver the project efficiently and within budget.

Key responsibilities:
- Assist the Managing Surveyor with data input and other relevant support tasks.
- Produce and process formal subcontract documents and certify interim and final payments, along with the final subcontract account.
- Produce and send enquiries to subcontractors, inviting them to tender, and engage with the supply chain.
- Accurate monthly forecasting of contract financials.
- Ability to challenge resource allocation and costs effectively.
- Monitor and control income and expenditure on contracts, including interim/final applications for payment, final accounts, and payments for late monies. Liaise with relevant stakeholders (e.g., engineers, clients) as required.
- Receive, analyse, and assess quotations, liaising with Contracts Managers and Site Agents regarding price, proven history, availability, etc.
- Notify successful and unsuccessful subcontractors promptly, ensuring timely written communication.
- Prepare bills of quantities/activity schedules for payment purposes.
- Develop cash flow forecasts for both internal and client use.
- Prepare relevant monthly reports for the Commercial Manager, such as cost and value comparisons, turnover forecasts, ensuring all information is accurate and complete.
- Contribute to and attend financial and progress meetings with client engineers and subcontractors as needed.
- Provide advice and support to the site team to optimise the use of contract resources.
- Offer feedback to Estimators and Contracts Managers regarding contract pricing, projected profit/loss, pricing omissions, etc.
- Maintain deadlines in line with the monthly commercial calendar.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Full driving licence
- Proficiency in a range of IT packages, including Microsoft Office and bespoke software.
- Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Commercial awareness with a strong understanding of the construction process.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Previous experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations
- Strong organisational abilities and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
- Eagerness to pursue personal development and stay up-to-date with industry knowledge
Desired:
- Degree-qualified or equivalent, or with relevant experience and knowledge.
- Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
- Experience in the water sector and working for a direct delivery contractor
- CSCS card holder.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in estimation
- An engaging communicator with problem-solving skills
