As a Shift Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the data centre systems. You will be part of a skilled team responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on critical infrastructure to ensure 100% uptime and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems within the data centre.
- Respond to critical incidents, ensuring a swift resolution to minimize downtime.
- Monitor BMS (Building Management Systems) and other monitoring tools for any anomalies.
- Carry out proactive checks and maintenance on all critical infrastructure, including power distribution units (PDUs), UPS systems, and cooling systems.
- Ensure that all health and safety procedures are adhered to in line with company policies.
- Document all maintenance activities, incidents, and service reports.
- Work as part of a team in a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (days/nights) to provide continuous coverage.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong technical background with previous experience in a data centre or similar critical environment.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
- Experience with BMS and other monitoring systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond to incidents quickly and efficiently.
- A proactive approach to preventative maintenance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 shift environment (4 on, 4 off).
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, or Facilities Engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
- Health and Safety certification (desirable but not essential).
