One of London's largest Facilities Management (FM) companies is seeking a dedicated and skilled Shift Engineer to join our team at a prestigious commercial property in Central London. The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you'll be an essential part of our technical team, responsible for the smooth running of all building systems and equipment, whether electrical or mechanical, across this large commercial site. You'll work on a rotating shift basis, covering both days and nights, to ensure 24/7 support. This role provides you with the stability of a permanent position and the opportunity to work within a close-knit and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all building systems, with a focus on either electrical or mechanical equipment.
- Quickly troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair faults to minimise downtime.
- Conduct safety checks, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with building regulations and safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, BMS, fire alarms, lighting, and power distribution systems.
- Provide clear communication and updates to management and collaborate effectively with other engineers and contractors.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incidents, and repairs.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Shift Engineer with a background in either electrical or mechanical engineering, who is comfortable working on a demanding shift schedule.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within facilities management, preferably in a large commercial environment.
- Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in either electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Skilled in working with a wide range of building systems, including HVAC, power distribution, BMS, and safety systems.
- Problem Solving: Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to resolve technical issues quickly.
- Safety First: Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations, with a proactive approach to safe working practices.
- Flexible: Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern covering both days and nights.
