We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join the Adult Services team. This role is designed for a Council Officer trained professional with experience in social work for adults, particularly in the areas of safeguarding, mental health, disability support, and elderly care.
You will be part of a team that provides vital support to adults in need across the Shetland Islands, promoting independence, well-being, and dignity.
The role will offer support with accommodation and travel to and from the Island.

Responsibilities:
... - Carry out needs assessments, formulate care plans, and review cases to ensure appropriate support for adults in need.
- Work with vulnerable adults, their families, and carers to assess needs, provide interventions, and create pathways to improve quality of life.
- Act as a Council Officer, responding to and investigating reports of adults at risk and safeguarding issues in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including health services, housing, and community organisations, to ensure a holistic approach to care and support.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records, and prepare reports as required.
Qualifications and registrations:
- Qualified Social Worker
- SSSC registered in the Social Work part of the register
- Council Officer training with experience in adult safeguarding
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007
