Leicester City Council is seeking a Social Worker to join our Children in Need Team to play a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children at risk. The successful candidate can expect to to be paid up to £38 per hour & will be responsible for:
...
- Conducting thorough assessments of children and families referred to the Children in Need Team, developing individualised care plans, and coordinating with relevant agencies and professionals.
- Identifying and addressing potential risks to children's well-being, promoting positive parenting strategies, and connecting families to community resources.
- Working effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including colleagues, parents, carers, educational institutions, and other professionals, to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the needs of children.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate case records, preparing reports, and contributing to data analysis and service evaluation.
- Advocating for the rights and best interests of children, empowering families to build their own capacity, and promoting their resilience.
- Providing direct support, guidance, and counselings to children and families facing a range of challenges, including but not limited to:
- Family breakdown and separation
- Domestic violenct
- Neglect
- Substance misuse
- Mental health issues
- Educational difficulties
Requirements:
- Social Work Degree (BA/BSc/MA/MSc) or equivalent
- Social Work England registration
- Proven experience working with children and families in a social work setting
- Strong assessment and case management skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- Experience working with specific child protection issues (e.g., neglect, abuse, domestic violence)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children)
