Central Bedfordshire Council is seeking a passionate and committed Social Worker to join our Family Support Team.

- Identifying families at risk of needing further support and offering preventative interventions to address emerging challenges.
- Conducting thorough assessments of families, identifying their strengths and needs, and collaboratively developing individualised support plans.
- Providing direct support, guidance, and counselling to families, building positive relationships and encouraging their active participation in their own support journey.
- Connecting families to a wide range of resources and services within the community, including educational support, parenting programs, financial assistance, and mental health services.
- Acting as an advocate for families, empowering them to make informed decisions, and strengthening their capacity to cope with life challenges.
- Maintaining detailed and accurate case records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Working effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including colleagues, schools, health professionals, and other agencies, to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting the needs of families.
Essential Qualifications:
- Social Work Degree (BA/BSc/MA/MSc) or equivalent
- Social Work England registration
- Experience working with families in a social work setting
- Strong assessment and case management skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with families
- Commitment to working in a strengths-based approach
- Knowledge of family support interventions and models
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Understanding of relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children)
- Experience using case management software
- Experience working with families facing specific challenges (e.g., domestic violence, substance misuse, mental health issues)
