Your role: You will be required to provide one-to-one support to students studying at University. The purpose of this role is to provide individual students with bespoke and tailored support that reflects the individual communication needs and learning style of each student you support with visual impairments in order to develop and facilitate their independent learning.
Location: Nationwide.
Due to recent demand we are looking to expand our team of highly experienced and qualified support staff, as such we are looking for people who meet the below criteria:
The role can cover:
- Assisting and advising students with how to modify learning materials into accessible formats.
- Supporting students with the use of specialist equipment and assistive technology.
- Helping with planning workload and structuring assignments, access to research material and preparation for assessments/exams.
- Developing skills in relation to accessing, recognising and understanding course material and reinforcement of this learning.
- Developing practical study strategies with the individual including but not limited to:
- Assignment planning.
- Research.
- Composition.
- Modification of carrier language of assignment.
- Presentations (mode and structure of the presentation).
- Communication skills.
- Organisation.
- Time management.
- Exploring solutions to issues and queries affecting a students academic learning and performance.
Qualifications required:
A vision-related postgraduate qualification is required, for example:
Either;
- Advisory Teacher for Students with Vision Impairments
- Advisory Teacher for Students with MultiSensory Impairments
- Inclusive Education (Visually Impaired Learners) (PgDip)
- PG/Dip Teaching Learners with a Visual Impairment (QTVI)
- PGDip/MA Education of Children and Young People with Vision Impairments
- PG/DIP Teaching and Supporting Learners with Visual Impairments in Further Education
OR;
ANY Postgraduate qualification, for example:
- Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy
- Certificate of Education (Cert Ed)
- Postgraduate Diploma
- Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)
- Masters (MA)
- Master of Science (MSc)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
PLUS;
A vision-related specialist qualification. For example:
- Specialist Qualification in Habilitation and Disabilities of Sight (Children and Young People) Grad Dip
- Advisory Teacher for Students with Vision Impairments
- Advisory Teacher for Students with MultiSensory Impairments
