We are thrilled to partner with a reputable manufacturer, a leader in their field, to find a dedicated Stores Manager to join their team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with managers from various departments, including Production, R&D, and Fabrication, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Utilise proven Lean Manufacturing experience to drive improvements and optimise processes within the stores department.
- Develop and implement processes based on Lean principles, ensuring continuous efficiency and operational excellence.
- Ensure the accurate booking in of goods received and timely storage to maintain operational flow.
- Oversee the evolution of the kitting system for lift parts, ensuring alignment with production requirements.
- Regularly create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and best practices.
- Use the Andon System to identify and resolve root cause issues, improving the workflow and minimising delays.
- Lead the implementation and development of the Kanban system within the production line and with suppliers.
- Monitor the quality of work produced and take corrective actions when necessary.
- Oversee the upgrade of parts storage across the entire stores department to enhance efficiency and accessibility.
- Ensure materials are readily available for a fast-paced production line to keep operations running smoothly.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Manage a team of approximately three full-time staff, conducting regular staff assessments, appraisals, and handling any disciplinary matters.
- Hold daily meetings and toolbox talks to ensure clear communication and team cohesion.
About You:
- Proven experience in managing a warehouse or stores team, ensuring operational efficiency and high standards.
- Solid background in writing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to optimise processes.
- Extensive experience working within a Stores or Parts department in a manufacturing setting.
- A solid understanding of the manufacturing process and the ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
- A valid Forklift Truck Licence (FLT) and a commitment to maintaining health and safety standards in the workplace.
Role Details:
- Salary: Circa £35,000 (dependent on experience)
- Location: Smethwick
- Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 06:40 am - 16:45 pm
