- Pay Rate: £31650 - £49084 (+5596) MPS/UPS + TLR 2
Essential Requirements
- Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Proven experience in leading a department or holding a leadership position.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
Desirable Skills
- Experience of working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of effective intervention strategies.
- Strong knowledge of the secondary history curriculum.
- Experience in curriculum planning and development.
- Experience in mentoring and supporting staff development.
- Ability to inspire and motivate both students and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the History department to deliver outstanding teaching and learning.
- Develop and implement a clear strategic vision for the department.
- Design and deliver a challenging and engaging History curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practices within the department.
- Provide professional guidance and support to teaching staff.
- Ensure that the curriculum is inclusive and reflective of diverse historical perspectives.
- Promote cross-curricular links to enhance student understanding of historical context.
- Promote a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Lead departmental meetings and share best practices across the faculty.
- Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic development.
