About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer with expertise in non-metallic materials to join our team. This role is essential in ensuring that suppliers meet high-quality standards and deliver defect-free components that align with manufacturing specifications and legal requirements. You will play a critical role in improving supplier performance, resolving quality issues, and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier & Part Development: Work closely with non-metallic suppliers to enhance manufacturing quality and efficiency.
Quality Assurance: Assess supplier quality systems, conduct audits, and support Supplier Excellence Recognition (SER) programs.
Technical Documentation Review: Evaluate Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, identify gaps, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance.
Problem Resolution: Manage Non-Conformance Management (NCM) cases, perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and follow through to resolution.
Process Knowledge: Understand and oversee manufacturing techniques such as injection molding, rubber forming, foam molding, and rotomolding.
Continuous Improvement: Support Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) STOP capability and Built-in Quality (BIQ) initiatives.
Requirements
Essential:
Strong communication skills - ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems for non-metallic components (plastics, foam, rubber, etc.).
Experience in supplier quality engineering or manufacturing engineering.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on process improvement.
Proficiency in APQP, GD&T, and Engineering Specifications.
Familiarity with supplier evaluations and certification processes.
Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience (will consider slightly less if highly experienced in non-metallic components).
Proficient in Microsoft Office and internal ERP systems.
Desirable:
Experience in quality audits (CQMS) and capacity planning (RCCP).
Certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), or Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
Previous experience in a supplier development role within a large manufacturing environment.
