About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and committed Teacher of English to join our secondary school in Harrogate. This is a full-time position starting ASAP. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering an engaging and challenging English curriculum to students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. The school prides itself on its inclusive and supportive ethos, providing an environment where both staff and students can thrive.

Pay Rate: £150 - £223 per day (UPS rates will be considered)

Essential Requirements

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Proven track record of raising student attainment in English.
An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Skills

Excellent subject knowledge of English language and literature.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities.
Ability to assess and respond to students' individual needs.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
Collaborative and team-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
Develop engaging and creative resources to inspire and motivate students.
Assess, track, and report on student progress to ensure positive outcomes.
Provide differentiated support to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Encourage critical thinking and analytical skills through a range of teaching strategies.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Prepare students for GCSE examinations through targeted support and intervention.
Encourage a love for reading and writing among students.
Provide extra-curricular opportunities related to English, such as debate clubs or writing workshops.
Monitor and address any safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.
