About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher of Food Technology to join a vibrant secondary school in Leeds. This is a full-time position starting ASAP. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Food Technology at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students, helping them to develop essential cooking skills, understand nutrition, and appreciate the importance of food in health and culture.

You will be joining a supportive and friendly faculty where creativity and innovation are highly valued. The department is well-equipped with modern facilities, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the curriculum and extracurricular activities. Ofsted has rated the school as 'Outstanding'.

Essential Requirements

QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent teaching qualification.

Eligibility to work in the UK.

A passion for food education and helping students develop essential life skills.

An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

Skills

Creativity in lesson planning and delivery
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit different learning styles
Team player with a positive and proactive attitude
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to engage and motivate students

Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Food Technology lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Develop creative and hands-on practical lessons that engage and challenge students.
Assess, monitor, and report on student progress regularly.
Ensure high standards of health, safety, and hygiene in the classroom and during practical activities.
Encourage students to explore a variety of cooking techniques and culinary styles.
Support students in developing an understanding of nutrition and healthy eating.
Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, including cooking clubs and competitions.
Provide regular feedback to students, helping them to improve and achieve their goals.
Keep up to date with current trends in food education and culinary arts.
Encourage students to develop independence and confidence in cooking skills.
