About the Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Part-Time Science Teacher to join a secondary school in Wakefield. This role involves teaching on Thursdays and Fridays, starting February 24th. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that inspire a love for science, support student progress, and prepare learners for their academic journey.
The school has high standards for everyone, values the relationships between students and staff, and is dedicated to the staff's professional and personal growth. Ofsted has rated the school as 'Good'.
Position Details
Location: Wakefield
Contract: Part time (Thursday and Friday)
Pay Rate: £150 - £223 per day (UPS rates will be considered)
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
- An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.

Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Differentiate lessons to accommodate varying abilities and learning styles.
- Prepare students for GCSE exams through targeted teaching and support.
- Attend departmental and staff meetings, contributing to school-wide initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Science department to develop innovative teaching strategies.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers about student progress.
- Take part in extracurricular activities and Science-related events.
- Manage laboratory resources and ensure health and safety standards are met.
- Encourage and reward positive student behaviour and effort.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students exploring Science-based careers.
