Town Centre Events and Business Liaison Officer

Randstad is seeking a skilled and experienced Town Centre Events and Business Liaison Officer to join our team on a 12-week temporary assignment. You'll play a vital role in bringing excitement and energy to our town centre, creating memorable events and fostering strong relationships with local businesses, all while supporting the delivery of our economic development strategy.
What You'll Do:
- Lead Event Planning & Execution: Develop and manage the Town Centre Event and Markets Programme, working collaboratively with the wider Regeneration and Economic Development team to create engaging and successful events.
- Manage Existing Events: Oversee the existing events and markets organised by the council, ensuring seamless operations and positive outcomes.
- Business Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, acting as a key point of contact, promoting collaboration, and supporting their growth and success.
- Event Expertise: Ensure that appropriate Event management processes and procedures are completed, including risk assessments, event licenses, permissions, and health and safety protocols.
- Budget Management: Manage event budgets in conjunction with the Economic Development Officer, ensuring financial responsibility and effective resource allocation.
- Strategic Implementation: Support the Economic Development Officer in implementing and delivering the Economic Strategy.
- Networking: Develop a strong network across the borough, acting as a key liaison between businesses and other stakeholders.
- Communication & Marketing: Manage a range of communication channels, including social media and publications, to effectively market events and economic activities to businesses and other key stakeholders.
- Funding Opportunities: Identify potential external funding opportunities, and work with the wider Regeneration and Economic Development team to create bids and sponsorship packages.
- Promote Equality & Diversity: Promote equality and diversity in the workplace and in the services of the Council, delivering the Council's equality's and diversity priorities.
What We're Looking For:
Essential Requirements:
* A qualification related to event management or relevant experience managing events in a similar setting.
* Experience and a good understanding of delivering events within a town center environment.
* Experience of working with networks and developing new initiatives for business development and engagement.
* Experience and a strong understanding of budget management and financial processes.
* Highly developed written, oral, and presentational skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking initiative and being proactive in all activities.
* Full driving license and access to a car.
* Ability to work weekends (at least two Saturdays per month).
Desirable Requirements:
* Project management skills, for example PRINCE 2 practitioner or equivalent experience.
* Experience of working with stakeholders and partners to build long-term relationships.
What We Offer:
- Hourly Rate: £17.29
- Duration: 12 weeks
- Working Hours: 22 hours per week (includes two Saturdays per month)
- Location: Welwyn Garden City
