We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced utilities Survey Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in protecting vital airport assets and underground utilities from damage while maintaining the highest safety standards throughout the project.
You will be responsible for managing the utilities service protection team and ensuring the works are in accordance with coordinated in compliance with the Underground utilities, and breaking ground requirements, as well as the Heathrow Service protection plan.

What You'll Do:
- Lead the Service Protection team: Oversee the team's daily operations, ensuring they have the latest and most accurate information to safely work around utilities.
- Coordinate works around utilities: Proactively plan and coordinate works, minimizing disruption and potential damage to underground infrastructure.
- Maintain data integrity: Review and assess data quality, ensuring its accuracy and suitability for safe construction.
- Ensure compliance with Heathrow's Service Protection plan: Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
- Provide expert guidance: Be the go-to point of contact for site management regarding utilities and safety procedures.
- Train and develop the team: Implement training programs for internal and subcontracted staff, focusing on safe systems of work and utility awareness.
- Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with clients, designers, and other stakeholders to find creative solutions to ensure safety and project success.
- Promote a culture of safety: Foster a "zero strike" mentality, driving continuous improvement in safe working practices around utilities.
- Support project teams: Provide guidance and assistance to construction teams to ensure the smooth running of the project.
- Manage and develop the Service Protection team: Lead, mentor, and grow a strong and competent team.
- Ensure compliance with H&S regulations: Maintain the highest standards of safety and adherence to all relevant regulations.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement: Actively identify areas for improvement, implement best practices, and lead lessons learned sessions.
- Maintain a live model of utility data: Ensure the team has access to the most up-to-date information to guide their work and mitigate risks.
- Coordinate with Heathrow stakeholders: Engage with Heathrow's asset owners and service providers to ensure smooth operations and obtain necessary permissions.
- Investigate utility strikes: Conduct thorough investigations to determine root causes and prevent future incidents.
- Support the development of surveys: Contribute to the planning and execution of surveys, ensuring they meet project needs and Heathrow standards
Essential Requirements:
- Education: QCF Level 5 or above in a related field.
- Experience: Proven track record in civil construction projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with PAS 128 (management of underground assets) and HSG 47 (working with underground utilities) standards.
- Communication & Organization: Strong communication skills, organized, and able to manage own workload effectively.
- Project Management: Ability to prioritize tasks aligned with master programs (e.g., P6) and ensure project safety and proactive management of works around underground utilities.
