Barnsley Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Youth Justice Practitioner to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour. This role involves direct work with children and their families, including home visits, and therefore a driving licence and access to a car are essential. Although this is a full-time role, flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate, which include options to work remotely as part of Barnsley MBC's commitment to support a work-life balance.
Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough assessments of children and young people, producing high-quality reports for courts and other professional bodies.
- Delivering therapeutic interventions to children and their families.
- Working collaboratively with other professionals across multiple agencies.
- Planning and delivering therapeutic interventions.
- Undertaking home visits.
Requirements:
- AIM3 assessment training and demonstrable evidence of recent knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour.
- A qualification in social work, youth work, youth justice, counselling, or other therapeutic professions.
- Proven ability to write high-quality and analytical assessments for courts and other professional arenas, conveying the complexity of risk, safety, and support needs.
- Recent experience of working therapeutically with children and their families who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour and who have complex needs.
- Driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Desirable:
- Social work qualification.
