A successful youth support worker will responsible for:
- Building positive and trusting relationships with young people, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for them to express themselves.
- Offering emotional support and counselling to help young people navigate challenges and overcome personal obstacles.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of individual care plans, tailored to meet each young person's unique needs and goals.
- Encouraging educational attainment and providing educational support where necessary.
- Facilitating workshops, group activities, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, social skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Collaborating with other team members and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the young person's care.
- Monitoring and evaluating progress, maintaining accurate records, and reporting on the young person's development.
To be successful in your application, you will:
- Have previous experience working in a care setting with young people
- Experience in a secure setting is beneficial, but not essential
- Have knowledge of cognitive behavioural approaches, attachment theory and child protection policy
- Have experience advocating on behalf of a young person
- Register under the PVG scheme
- Full driving licence
- Obtained SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
