My client, a leader in their field are on the lookout for an experienced zOS Systems Programmer to join our team, ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and enhancement of critical mainframe infrastructure. You will be responsible for upgrading, maintaining, and supporting the zOS operating system, along with key ISV products from IBM and Computer Associates (CA).
THIS ROLE IS INSIDE IR35
This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge mainframe technologies, contribute to key infrastructure projects, and provide vital production support in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Upgrade, maintain, and support zOS operating systems and ISV products (IBM & CA).
- Provide mainframe systems programming support, including software deployment, planning, configuration, and testing.
- Deliver production support, ensuring optimal system performance and rapid problem resolution.
- Work with key mainframe technologies such as zOS, SMPE, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL.
- Troubleshoot issues independently, utilizing excellent problem determination skills.
- Participate in an on-call rota and provide off-hours support for software implementations and critical projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams, ensuring clear communication of complex technical concepts.
- Develop and implement best practices for risk management and regulatory compliance.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Extensive experience in mainframe systems programming
- Strong knowledge of zOS, SMPE, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL
- Experience with IBM and CA products
- Banking experience
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience setting and achieving challenging technical goals
- Knowledge of risk management & regulatory compliance
Desirable Skills (Nice to Have):
- Assembler, Automation, GDPS, Rexx, and CLIST skills
- Proficiency in Top Secret security management
- Performance monitoring using Omegamon, RMF, SMF, and SAS
